use case

VR Simulated Design Model

Used to test and interact with a design model with the participants (local, regional and international visitors) and key stakeholders and undertake analysis of the results. Design is updated through review gates and retested. With a view to improve safety outcomes, improve the driver experience, enhanced design performance, deliver cost savings to construction. Can also be applied in Operations for training new personnel, understanding impact of configuration changes.

Projects

Bruce Highway – Marrochydore and Mons Road Interchange

Objective

To provide a range of visualisation tools to support the design and communication of the project and to undertake a Human Centered approach to the road design.

Approach

Build a virtual reality ‘digital twin’ of the project to test the design / signage arrangements with key stakeholders and public participants (local, regional and international visitors) to understand why certain behaviors occurred.

Outcomes

Initial analysis of the assessment and of the design from the end user’s perspective has identified cost savings, improved safety outcomes and enhanced design performance.

Newcastle Light Rail

Objective

To develop visualisation animations for community and stakeholder engagement purposes.

Approach

In stage one four separate visualisation animations were created then in stage two a single ‘city-wide’ visualisation model were developed for use as a digital asset for future visualisation work.

Outcomes

Using the 3D model, a range of communications materials were developed including still renderings, fly-through animations, construction staging, temporary works showing traffic and pedestrian access and virtual reality experiences.
