Objective

Assess level crossings across NSW against multiple geometric criteria.

Approach

WSP provided TfNSW with a highly automated method for assessment of over 600 level crossings throughout NSW, including swept-path analysis and other complex geometric functions of LiDAR point-cloud spatial data.

Outcome

Assessments were made against Australian standards and the results automatically assembled into reports that could be shared with third-party asset owners via a web portal. WSP also delivered a procedure for rapidly assessing new or modified crossings and provided high-level reporting to inform responsive decision-making regarding HPV permits and investment prioritisation.
